LUGARES DE GLOBALIZAÇÃO
The Cultural Week – Lugares de Globalização is the result of a partnership formed by Vicentina – Association for the Southwest Development, Direção Regional de Cultura do Algarve (Algarve’s Culture Department), the Municipalities of Aljezur, Lagos, Monchique, Silves e Vila do Bispo, the Região de Turismo do Algarve (Algarve Tourism Board) and the LAC Association.
The project is inspired by the content of the application for the UNESCO National Commission, with the same name, submitted by the Região de Turismo do Algarve jointly with the Direção Regional de Cultura do Algarve and the Municipalities of the target territory, which enabled the registration of these territories in the Portugal’s World Heritage Tentative List.

These sites are distributed by 5 countries: Portugal - Lagos, Vila do Bispo, Aljezur, Monchique and Silves, in the Algarve; Angra do Heroísmo and Vila do Porto, in Azores and Funchal, in Madeira; Spain – Ceuta; Cape Verde; Morocco; Mauritania.

Cultural tourism is a growing and changing product, in a clear transition process of simple visitation and information to the promotion of memorable and outstanding experiences, offering the visitors and tourists, opportunities to experience the heritage, through fantastic moments with heritage.

The Cultural Week – Lugares de Globalização intends, around this topic, to contribute to state the Algarve as a cultural destination, relying on its common history, and to develop a culture of entrepreneurship by the statement of its cultural and heritage values. It also intends to promote the reflexion between heritage and tourism, as well as, foster. The diversification of the heritage and culture traditional functions, in order to promote |the creation and strengthening of innovating, creative and additional economic activities.
